Running Windows 7 and eager to upgrade to Windows 10 but you do not see the update proposal in Windows update? Here is the checklist to go through and make sure you have all the requirements in order to get the free upgrade :
1. You are running a genuine version of Windows
2. Make sure you have service pack 1 (SP1) and all the latest updates installed
3. If you still do not see the update, manually check if updates KB2952664 andKB3035583 are installed through Control Panel > Programs and Features or run this Windows 10 upgrade troubleshooter.
I’ve seen a few situations where all the above requirement were met but the updates below were missing :
KB2952664 has not been run
KB3035583 has not run
In such case, just download, install manually and reboot your computer. After the reboot, you should see the upgrade icon in the taskbar near the clock and also be presented to you through Windows Updates.
Make sure to select the update below depending on your running version (x86 or x64) :
I did not personally observed this behaviour on Windows 8, but some researches suggest to run the following using the command prompt (untested) :
dism /online /get-packages | findstr 2976978 dism /online /get-packages | findstr 2919355
